Biography
Image Concepts is the brainchild of Duane Harris a photographer, retoucher, and printer. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, Duane has been a photographer for over 20 years. He has worked in numerous studios and photo labs throughout New York City and has photographed countless models, actors, and recording artists in the studio and on location.
Background
As a child and in my preteens, I spent a great deal of my time drawing everything from insects to super heroes. Throughout grade school I was considered the best artist in my class and in my teens I wanted to be an artist/illustrator for Marvel Comics. Of course, growing up in the 70's wanting to draw comic books was not something my parents supported, so I decided to study electronics and computer programming upon entering college. However, those two subjects were very technical and required a strong math background which I just didn't have. Again, I explored my artistic side and found out I was pretty good with a camera.
Like most photographers, I started taking portraits of family and friends with a second-hand camera and went on to photographing their weddings and special events. In time, I became so good they actually paid me for my work (ha,ha). My specialty however, is portraiture and commercial fashion.
